MOON BOOTH

“MoonBooth” is a multimedia meditation on the human and non-human relationship with the cycles of the moon. We use projections, sound and interactive communication to create a moment of connection with the moon’s reflectiveness.

Each moon cycle has a name that is often shared across human culture, reflecting what these phases of the year represent in how all people live life in accordance with these earthly parameters and moods. The Beaver moon, also called the Frost moon, was given this name because November is when the beaver begins building their lodge, preparing for the ensuing frost and all the vulnerabilities that winter brings.

cultural DEBRI

I collected these objects from a century-old house in Uptown, Pittsburgh, PA. They represent the findings of household archaeology, an archive of those who passed through this dwelling. Were some of them from the Jewish doctor’s family, said to have occupied the house in its first decades? Or the African American family that allegedly turned each story into a discrete apartment? Or the squatters who, rumor has it, occupied it for twenty-some years afterwards?

VANISHING REFLECTIONS

Inspired by the concept of a Wunderkammer, this collaborative project explored the Anthropocene and human/non-human nature through an exhibition of specimens from the Carnegie Museum collection. Invited contributors selects specimens and a mirrored installation placed spectators in the midst of the display, blurring the borders between self and other.

FRACTURD LANDSCAPE

Fractured Landscape is an interactive installation using a closed circuit video-projection loop.  The spectator's image is recorded and projected over broken glass, which then reflects a fractured image that fills the space and creates a landscape effect.
